BREAKFAST AT OEB BREAKFAST CO. - Renfrew

A few of us decided to have breakfast before heading down to the BMO Centre for the final day of the Comic Expo. We usually meet at Diner Deluxe if a bunch of us were going to some expo at the BMO Centre. Since one of my friends haven't been to OEB before, we decided to give this place a try. I had downloaded the 'No Wait' app on my phone a couple days prior and was frequently checking to see if wait time had change. So far there was no wait. My friends were picking me up since parking at the BMO is costly, and car pool is good. My house is about 10 minutes away from Edmonton Trail. When we got there, a little after 7:30am, they had just given the last table of 4 away. We had a 30 minute wait, and the hostess had just updated the wait time in front of us :( Anyways, a little wait was okay since my other friend was running late.

We were seated as soon as a table was available. They actually pushed two tops together for us. The menu had a lot of brunch items - maybe a little too much as most of us were overwhelmed with the choices. I was debating on whether to get a benny dish or a Box'd item. The service was very quick. We didn't have to wait for our food that long. The server was attentive and very nice.

Porchetta Benny $15.50

So, the benny won. I decided on the roast pork benny despite it having truffle oil in it. The benny was actually pretty tasty since the truffle oil wasn't overpowering and it worked well in the overall flavour of the dish. I ordered medium poached, and they cooked it perfectly. The pork slice was very tender. The brown butter Hollandaise had a little bit of nutty and buttery flavour. I was really looking forward to the twice fried herb potatoes. French fries and anything potato related are my weakness. The potatoes were very good. They were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The dish also came with a small selection of fruits. The dish had strawberry, dragonfruit, orange, apple, and kiwi which were refreshing.

I also got an pineapple juice since I think the apple juice was a little too pricy. I have tried their apple juice before, and I'm not really a fan of the unfiltered kind. My friend also order the bratwurst on the side since she was super hungry, and I got to try some. The sausage was pretty big, and it was good with the mustard sauce.

Overall, this is a small, modern restaurant. The prices here is comparable to the other breakfast places located on Edmonton Trail. The service is here is very efficient and good. The hostess and servers were all very nice. They are open everyday from 7-3pm so there is no dinner. I wouldn't mind breakfast for dinner sometimes if the food is very good.
